1. Why does Pony have a problem with Johnny's idea to disguise themselves?
Pony has a problem with Johnny's idea to disguise themselves because "Greasers" are supposed to have their hair, nice & long & greasy so he didn't want to dye his hair blond because his hair represented who he is.

2. What does Pony mean when he says, "I was supposed to be the deep one" (p. 75)?
Ponyboy meant when he said "I was supposed to be the deep one" by that Ponyboy is usually the one who picks up on certain things that don't really revolve around other Greasers.

3. Why does Johnny think he is a hero (p. 76)? Do you think Dally is a hero based on what he did?
Johnny thinks he is a hero because when he got arrested he kept cool and calm when they placed him in jail for something Two-Bit did, but he knew already that Two-Bit did it at that time, he just didn't want to turn him in. Yes I think Dally is a hero based on what he did because not many people would go to jail for another person, most people would call that person out instead of themselves going to jail.

4. Why does Pony realize he doesn't like Dally? Can you explain what he means by this?
Ponyboy realizes that he doesn't like Dally because Dally doesn't treat him with respect and doesn't like him.

5. Examine Robert Frost's poem, Nothing Gold Can Stay. What do you think the
poem is saying? How might this apply to the characters in the novel?
I think the poem is saying that if something is worth it, it can't stay or if something is good, it won't last for long. I think this might apply to the characters in the novel by that if they have something good started, it won't last to long (ex. everyone thinks that Johnny is in a good condition before he kills Bob and that everything will be ok, but Johnny dies from being burned. So they thought that since Johnny was good, nothing could happen, but he lost his life).

6. On page 78, Johnny compares Pony and his brothers to their parents. Which one of your parents are you most like? What similarities do you share?
The parent that I am most alike would probably be my mom. Our similarities would be that we both look alike so much, I act like her a lot and my voice is like hers.

7. What does Pony mean when he says he drinks Pepsi's like a fiend (p.78)?
Ponyboy means when he says he drinks Pepsi's like a fiend is that he drinks to much Pepsi he is addicted to it.

8. What's a 'heater'? Why does Dally have one?
A heater is a gun. Dally has a gun in case at the rumble if someone doesn't play fair, he will pull it out, but it's like a bluff because the gun isn't loaded.

9. Why are the Socs and the Greasers going to fight in the vacant lot?
The Socs and the Greasers are going to fight in the vacant lot because they can find out who is better and to see which is more "superior" than the other.

10. Who's the spy for the greasers? Does this surprise you? Why or why not?
The spy for the greasers is Cherry Valance... a Soc. This doesn't surprise me because Cherry likes Ponyboy and doesn't want him getting into any trouble.
